Making Your Dream Come Alive

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

– Joel 2:28, KJV

My dream is renewed for a new level of results.

A dream is a clear picture of a better future. But for us that are Christians, it goes better than that. A dream is a clear picture of a better future inspired by the scriptures. The scriptures help us to shape our value system so that when we capture an idea, it benefits us, benefits our communities, and our generation.

A dream is also a desired end. Your expectations of the future that has refused to go away. It sits down inside of you and refuses to go. If you don’t have a goal. If you don’t have something to stimulate your brain. If you don’t have something to keep you sharp and focused; if you don’t have challenges, you won’t stay alive. I don’t care how old you are. I don’t care how young you are. You need a dream.

…your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…

– Joel 2:28 KJV

Young men, you are meant to prophesy. You are to mandated to move in the Spirit and know the mind of God.
Why do you need to renew your dream?

1. Because there may be a delay

Not getting what you want can break your heart, but a wish that comes true is a life-giving tree.

– Proverbs 13:12, CEV

Life has a way of pushing our dreams down. We’ve all been through disappointments and setbacks. But instead of remembering the hurt, the pain and what didn’t work out, the key to reaching your destiny is to remember your dream – to overcome discouragement.

2. Because of past failures

A lot of people have tried several things that didn’t work out within the time frame they set. Failure is not a state. It is an event. Just because you fail in a particular event does not make you a failure. There is a big difference between failing at something and failing as somebody. You might have failed at something, but you are still a success. Champions are those who know that failure is temporary. Failure is not meant to be permanent. You only make failure permanent when you make it so (Philippians 3:13). You need to forget the past failure. This is a new day. A new season. The things that didn’t work for you in the past will begin to work for you now.

3. To avoid being complacent

Avoid getting stuck. Your current level can become the enemy of your next level (Philippians 3:13)

4. Because of Dream Killers

Joseph dreamed another dream.

For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words. And he dreamed yet another dream and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

– Genesis 37:7-9, KJV

There will be doubters. There will be critics. There will be mistakes but with hard work, there’s no limit.

5. People abandon their dream because of misunderstanding

In I Samuel 17:26-29, David met a challenge on the field. His antagonists were the people around him (vs. 28). Sometimes when you announce your dream, people may think you are over-ambitious. (Luke 14:28) God expects you to have a significant mentality to do significant things.

Maybe you haven’t experienced the totality of what God has for you up till now and it raises questions in your heart. In Luke 2:25, Simeon had a word from the Holy Ghost. He didn’t move from service to service or from sermon to sermon. He had a promise from God and held on to it. How long did it take for the promise to be fulfilled? Read Luke 2:27-32.

God’s timing is not our timing. Lazarus was dead for 4 days. The Jews believe that the spirit departs from the body on the third day. Whatever the situation, you are to resurrect your God’s given dream. Reactivate God’s given vision in you. Understand that when God makes a promise, he fulfils the promise.

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

– I Thessalonians 5:24, KJV

How Do I Fulfil My Dream?

Many people have dreams but not many know how to pursue and fulfil their dream.
Do you have a dream? Do you have a deep-seated desire you want to see fulfilled? Don’t forget your dreams. It is very easy to forget your dream in the world we live in today but don’t be distracted. Start moving in the direction of your dream. When God gives you a dream, unless he categorically tells you to wait, you must make the move (Genesis 13:1, 17). Start to move in the direction of your dream. Start doing something no matter how small. If God gives you a one-million-dollar dream and you have only $1000, put it in the account and let it be your small oil, your five loaves. Print a leaflet. Do something.

  1. Write Down Your Dream
And the Lord said to me, “Write my answer on a billboard, large and clear so that anyone can read it at a glance and rush to tell the others. But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day! – Habakkuk 2:2-4, TLB
  2. Speak Your Dream
There are too many people who are afraid to declare their dream because they are afraid that they may fail. Speak your dream. When you say it, you place the God who puts the dream in your heart on the line. And you establish his commitment over your own life. It makes you accountable.
Speak it to God. It is an expression of your faith in his promises. You are confessing back to God that you believe it.
Speak it to yourself. When you do so, you are instructing yourself. You need to know how to talk to yourself. The more you hear yourself declare it, the more you believe it.
Speak it to others. Be selective about whom but don’t be afraid to confirm it in the ears of other people. You set waves in motion. It draws people and resources towards you. David declared that he would kill Goliath. Like-minded people would be attracted towards your dream as you do so.
  3. Sow into The Dreams of Others
When you get involved in someone else’s dream, God will get involved in your dream (Ephesians 6:8). If you are looking for help in one particular area of your life, seek people in need in that area.
If you want a harvest of corn, what should you sow? Sow a seed of corn (Galatians 6:7). If you want to see a harvest you’ve never seen before, sow a seed you’ve never sown before. When you sow, don’t be afraid to call in your desired harvest. Let the sowing be your least effort, start calling in your harvest daily.
  4. Discover God’s purpose for your dream
When God gives you a dream, he connects you to a purpose. Usually, that purpose is bigger than you. Is bigger than your needs. It is bigger than your desire. God’s purpose for your dream is divine. If your dream dies with you, it is a useless, shallow and superficial dream. Yes, it is to bless you but also that you can be a blessing.
  5. Be diligent in the pursuit of your dream
Hard work works. Working really hard is what successful people do. Complaining has no value.

Guard your heart. Proverbs 4:23 The Message Bible says “That’s where life starts”. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it flows the forces that govern life.
Your heart is the incubation centre for your dream. If your heart is defiled, your dream will be corrupted. Be careful about the kinds of thoughts you allow into your heart. The devil can put thoughts into your heart. He places evil thoughts in Judas’ heart to betray Jesus. You must learn to resist him.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.

-Proverbs 23:7

Thinketh means to split open, it speaks of a gatekeeper; who shuts or opens the gate. Your life will move in the direction of your most dominant thoughts.
