Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

– Galatians 6:7, KJV

Often some Christians suffer because of their deeds. It may be difficult for some people to admit but it’s true. Generally, we like to think of ourselves as always right – always the victim, never the cause of our problems. To make it worse, we become masters at “blame-shifting, thereby making someone else the culprit. Even suffering can come because of your own words if you speak words carelessly or angrily. These words can be like missiles that produce irreversible results and great suffering to you.

“Self” can be referred to as the irrevocable law of sowing and reaping. Self-sinfulness may be forgiven for whatever offence, but the sin’s consequences will be reaped to the full. King David received forgiveness for his selfish and fleshly sin with Bathsheba but he reaped the consequence of his sin.

From his exalted position, David sowed seeds of “family destruction” and reaped a harvest of family destruction through his son, Absalom. Self has consequences, therefore free yourself from self-imposed suffering.

Insight: Self has ungodly sowing. Don’t walk by the flesh.

Prayer: Father, set me free from self-imposed suffering and engrace me with supernatural strength to be living a healthy Christian life in the name of Jesus.
