Moreover, if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
Matthew 18:15, NIV
Sometimes, in our eyes, problems in our Christian walk are often caused by others; their lack of consideration, their failure to recognize our obvious talent, their sin and so forth. And this includes others in the church. Some of them are outright rude and unkind. None of us like to deal with such unpleasant people. We see other people that make life so hard.
Sometimes, our brothers and sisters in the church treat us just as Joseph’s brothers treated him. It’s hard when anyone tells lies about you, falsely accuses or cheats you, and it’s so much more difficult when your Christian brothers and sisters do it. Those who mistreat you are wrong! They must answer to God for their wrongdoing but you too have a responsibility before God in such matters; to remove that ugly thing in your heart, to open the door of forgiveness.
You must forgive if you want to be free of it. Even if the lies continue, still forgive and never allow other people’s matters to be your problem to walk with the Lord.
Insight: Those who mistreat you are in sin but don’t be partaker of other people’s sin.
Prayer: Father, deliver me from other people’s problems in the name of Jesus.
