For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised.
– Hebrews 10:36, KJV
Endurance is the ability to go through an unpleasant or difficult situation without giving way or giving up. Endurance is the power of going on despite difficulties.
Its synonyms are determination, perseverance, tenacity, plodding, stamina, and backbone. When endurance is used in the Bible, it means: to abide under, to bear up courageously and to tarry or wait.
Endurance prevails. The Bible says: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. – James 1:12, KJV
So do not quit. Never give up. Keep going. Hold on. God’s rewards await you in the distant future not near the beginning, and you don’t know how many steps it will take to reach the prize.
Endurance maintains the stamina needed to see the end and embrace the prize. As long as you are fulfilling your calling as a Christian, challenges will come, difficult situations will arise. The Bible says that those that will live godly in Christ will face persecution.
What do you do when problems come your way?
As human beings, we tend to quit but the Scripture encourages us to endure till the end so that we can receive the crown. God is with you to support and sustain you. To give you hope, courage, and strength to continue. He has promised, “My presence will go [with you], and I will give you rest“, Exodus 33:14.
My friend, what are you going through? Is it loneliness, marital turbulence, childlessness, tribulation, distress, persecution, trial, famine, nakedness or any form of danger? The Bible says in all these, we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. Do you feel that sorrow and disappointment greet you every morning? Hold on. Help is just around the corner.
If however, you’re yet to surrender your life to Christ, you don’t have the inner power to sustain you in the battle of life. Surrender your life to Jesus today and receive the power and endurance to win in life. May the Lord grant you the grace to endure every situation or challenge that may come your way and triumph for celebration in the name of Jesus. Amen.
