“…but the worries of this life… come in and choke the word making it unfruitful.”
– Mark 4:19 NIV
This is a genuine snare that all of us must be on constant guard against. Many of the countless children of God and the ministers of the Gospel have had the power of their business, career and ministry drained away through worry and anxiety. Some people are born worriers instead of warriors. They are too pessimistic about all of life’s circumstances. You begin to hear from them, “What if this or that happens?”
You must discipline your mind not to worry. You must do what you are instructed to do in Philippians: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6,7 NIV).
You must rivet your eyes on Jesus and keep on keeping on. Satan had been using worry against the believers even though their minds were continually projecting “worst case scenario”.
The scriptures ask us to guard the loins of our minds. Your thinking should focus on seeking first His kingdom and his righteousness, then don’t worry about those things that would be added to you. Stop worrying. It’s a pitfall.
Insight: Free yourself from the cares of this world but be watchful in daily prayers.
Prayer: Father, let the spirit of worry disappear from my life in Jesus’ name.
