Daily Delight Devotional – Saturday, September 30 2023

Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.

– Proverbs 16:18, KJV

Pride is a ruthless destroyer of destiny. It has ruined without mercy all who have been caught in its grip. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

At the time you were struggling with the vision, you had no problem. Now that success has come and the vision has blossomed, when fame and wealth have come to reward your faithfulness and diligence and you are becoming comfortable and settled, then pride rears up its ugly head in your heart. Beware! God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Decide within you never to become proud at any point in time. No matter what becomes of God’s vision for your life. Settle it in your heart now and resist very firmly every temptation of the enemy to walk in pride. The proud finds it difficult to celebrate others or acknowledge the effort of others because he or she thinks such will reduce him or her. The proud man or woman sees herself or himself as only perfect or first to reckon with in all things. Beware of pride.

Insight: God is always contending with the proud. Stop the pride in your heart.

Prayer: Father, I uproot every trace of pride from my life today in the name of Jesus.
