And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it.
1 Kings 20:40 (KJV)
Whatsoever does not contribute directly to your God-given vision is a distraction. Distraction is a vision killer. So many people are busy here and there while they leave their God-given vision unattended. Even some Christians are busy here and there, and in the process, their God-given vision is gone. You cannot afford to be busy here and there and abandon your vision in life. You must be focused; you must set your face like a flint. It is your responsibility not to be distracted from your God-vision. You must be focused.
Men can distract you by their praise or by their criticism. Unwanted guests can distract you; even spending too much time in counselling as a minister of the gospel can become a distraction. If you want to help or please everybody, you will not be able to meet up with your commitment in several cases, and it may depend on your integrity and credibility as a true believer. Don’t kill yourself by being too good, too nice, too open, and too generous. Every serious-minded person has to deal with the problem of distraction. You do not have all the resources in the world. You must decide what you want to invest your life in and be focused. Distraction is a killer of vision.
Insight: Beware of uncommanded assignments; don’t find yourself in that situation of distraction.
Prayer: Father, let every vision killer catch fire now in the name of Jesus.
