Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Matthew 16:24, KJV
Becoming a disciple of Jesus should be one of your life’s goals. You must become a disciple. Many give their lives to Jesus but never become disciples. Discipleship offers you the discipline you need to make an impact in life. Through discipleship, you are equipped with the resources required to make an impact without limits.
During His earthly ministry, Jesus called people who later became His disciples. He instructed them to follow Him, and the same instruction applies to those who believe in Him today. Within three and a half years, Jesus transformed His disciples into fishers of men. He invested in their lives, turning Simon into Peter, a reed eventually becoming a rock.
Without thorough discipleship, the devil can pervert one’s destiny, and you won’t be able to make an impact in life. We are called to be disciples, to give up the life we had and follow Jesus, learning from Him and becoming like Him.
Insight: Discipleship is a call to follow Jesus, learn from Him, and become like Him.
Prayer: Father, grant me the grace to become a disciple of Christ, in the name of Jesus.
