Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

2 Timothy 2:22 (KJV)

Righteousness, in the context of the Scriptures, means living in a way that is right and pleasing to God. As a Christian, you are encouraged to pursue righteousness, which is the position of being completely acceptable and accepted by God, in spite of your sins, failures, and shortcomings. You can only be seen as righteous in God’s sight through your faith in Jesus Christ.

God, in His grace and mercy, grants righteousness as a gift. It is your sins that separate you from righteousness before God, but Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins, allowing us to stand as righteous in God’s presence. The Holy Spirit, along with God’s grace, helps you become and feel righteous, even though you don’t deserve it. Embrace the righteousness that God has given you and live accordingly.

Your God-given righteousness isn’t necessarily connected to your feelings. Hold onto God’s gift of righteousness, and remember that it’s by faith in Jesus that you are made righteous. Your feelings may fluctuate, but your righteousness in Christ remains constant.

Insight: Your righteousness in Christ is a gift from God, not based on your feelings or performance. Embrace this gift and live righteously in faith.

Prayer: Father, grace me to live righteously and walk in the righteousness You have given me, in the name of Jesus.
