For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:14 (KJV)
Sin is the most perilous foe of every Christian. It lurks behind ruined lives, divorces, and conflicts because sin holds the power to destroy. However, sin has been defeated. It shall not rule over you. This victory doesn’t mean you won’t face temptations. No matter who you are, how much you pray, or even if you are a preacher, temptations will come. Yet, it is not sinful to be tempted; yielding to it is. God has instilled something within you that is mightier than temptation.
1 Corinthians 10:13 affirms that no temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man, and God is faithful, providing a way out of temptation, enabling you to endure. You have dominion over sin; your former nature has been crucified. Christ not only bore your sins on the cross but carried you. You are crucified with Christ, dead to sin. If you’re dead to sin, the devil cannot trouble you with sin any longer. If you’re committing sin, it means you aren’t dead to it, and sin will trouble you.
Insight: Being dead to sin means your old nature has been abolished, and Christ lives within you.
Prayer: Father, sin will never reign over my life. I am free from the power of sin in the name of Jesus.
