Daily Delight Devotional – Thursday, November 16, 2023

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Psalm 45:7 (KJV)

There is nothing long-faced about being a Christian. Spirit-filled Christians are the happiest people in the world.

Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

– Psalm 81:1

We live in a sad old world because the world has never learned to know the unspeakable joy that God has provided. A world that is in rebellion against God cannot be a joyful world. When JESUS was born in the manger in Bethlehem, the angels sang, “Joy to the world”. The world has not found that joy because many of those who stand before the world as examples of Christianity are long-faced Christians.

The Bible says, rejoice evermore. God says he would give you oil of gladness instead of mourning. When the power of God is working in your life, you will overflow with joy that flows like a river from your innermost being.

Insight: You shall not want for joy when Christ is in you. The hope in Christ is a joyful life.

Prayer: Father, fill me with unspeakable joy with oil of gladness in the name of Jesus.
