Heart Circumcision – #DailyDelightDevotional

Daily Delight Devotional – Friday, November 24, 2023

Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

– Jeremiah 4:4 (KJV)

All those outward confessions or professions of Christianity do not matter to God as much as what goes on inside your heart. That is why Paul said that this circumcision of the outside is far from being the real thing and that the only thing that matters to God is the circumcision of your heart. This means that the spiritual foreskin covering the heart should be cut off.

The topmost is the flesh when referring to anything creating a barrier between God and people. The flesh is the major opposition to what God wants to do in our lives. You can sing without being circumcised in the heart; you can preach without being circumcised in the heart; you can do all manners of things without being circumcised in the heart. Stop hiding behind the foreskin in your hearts. The time has come for all of us to be very serious.

Insight: Nobody can circumcise himself.

Prayer: Father, help me to live above the flesh and let my heart be circumcised in Jesus’ name.
