Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
– Ezekiel 1:1
Under open heavens, amazing and awesome things are noticed in life, ministry, or the nation. Ezekiel said the heavens were opened to him while he was among other captives by the river of Chebar. Ezekiel was praying and seeing visions. One of the greatest things that can happen to a person in their life or ministry is to have an open heaven. It ensures continuous success and favour.
The Lord Jesus Christ was one of those highly favoured ones who operated under an open heaven.
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him
– Matthew 3:16
The Bible says the heavens were opened as Jesus was baptized and came out of the water. Every person has their own heavens. When your heavens open, things come out of them. The needs of Jesus for His ministry were the Spirit of God and the voice of the Lord, both of which He received when His heavens opened, and these were the source of His success in ministry. When you experience open heavens, you labour little and reap much. Prayer can make and force open the heavens.
Insight: Jesus did something unique when He was baptized; He was praying quietly.
Prayer: Father, grace me to be operating under open heavens in the name of Jesus.
