The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
– I Kings 19:7-8
To fulfil our purpose, it’s essential to nurture our God-given temple — our body —with daily health habits that guarantee long-term well-being. Taking care of your health is very critical to maximizing exponential increase.
Your body needs adequate nutrition – the right amount of food at the right time. Avoid eating junk meals. Prioritize eating healthy, nourishing and wholesome foods with the right calories and diet. Incorporate a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Hydration is equally vital; drink water regularly to keep your body functioning optimally.
In the same vein, cultivate a habit of regular exercise to strengthen your body and promote overall health. Whether it’s brisk walks or workouts, staying active enhances physical and mental well-being, ensuring you’re ready for the God-ordained purposeful tasks that lie ahead.
Your mental well-being is your superpower. Prioritise mental health through prayer and mindfulness. Learn to share your burdens with people who care for you. Avoid stress and burnout. A healthy mind contributes to a balanced life and equips you to face challenges with resilience and clarity.
Approach each day with the awareness that your body is a vessel for God’s purpose. If your body breaks down, your purpose becomes stalled. Elijah was able to travel for an extra forty days to reach the mountain of God after he ate the requisite amount of food and water. This teaches us that nurturing your health ensures that you can carry out God’s plans with vigour and vitality.
Insight: Holistic health habits are the key to nurturing your God-given temple, ensuring long-term well-being to fulfil your divine purpose.
Prayer: Lord, help me prioritize my health. May the habits I cultivate contribute to a healthy and vibrant life, allowing me to fulfil Your purpose with all my might. Amen.
