Love Your Neighbour- #DailyDelightDevotional

Daily Delight Devotional – Thursday, February 8, 2024

Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandment—to love one another—is the same message you heard before.

– 1 John 1:7, NLT

Love is the cornerstone of the Christian community, fostering unity through compassion, fellowship, and shared devotion to Christ. Like the early Church, we are called to cultivate a spirit of unity, breaking bread together, sharing joys and burdens, and supporting one another in faith.

However, the call to love extends beyond the boundaries of our Christian community. In Leviticus 19:18, God commands: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Practising love towards our neighbours, regardless of their faith, ethnicity, or background, cultivates unity, compassion, and positive social impact. Jesus even extends the bar by asking us to pray for our enemies. It will take love to pray for another person.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to embody His love in our interactions with everyone we encounter. Whether it’s lending a helping hand to a neighbour in need, offering words of encouragement to a stranger, or advocating for justice in our society, that is the exponential power of love.

Insight: Practicing love towards our neighbours extends the transformative impact of unity, compassion, and positive social change to all.

Prayer: Lord, help us to love one another as You have loved us. May our lives be a reflection of Your love, fostering unity and compassion in our communities.

Daily Bible Reading: Psalm 17-22
