Transforming Love – #DailyDelightDevotional

Daily Delight Devotional – Friday, February 16, 2024

But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

– Genesis 50:20, NKJV

Joseph exemplified God’s transforming love. This type of love breaks through the barriers of prejudice, discrimination, inequality and every form of injustice. By man’s moral standards, Joseph would have been justified if he imprisoned his brothers. However, his love towards his brothers who sold him into slavery proves that God’s love transforms.

Transforming love is also exemplified in Stephen’s life. His unwavering love and grace toward those who opposed him stand as a powerful testament to the transformative power of love in overcoming social vices. He cried out at the point of death, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” (Acts 7:60)

As followers of Christ, we are called to emulate Joseph’s and Stephen’s example, showing love in the face of injustice, combating prejudice and promoting equality through acts of love. Stephen through love did not see enemies but saw instead a people who needed forgiveness and salvation. Joseph’s brothers feared his retaliation but he, Joseph, saw God’s providence in his transit to Egypt. Love sees through the evil men do to you and enables you also to extend grace to everyone.

Insight: Transforming love empowers us to promote equality and God’s justice through acts of love.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, let my actions reflect Your love and grace, challenging prejudice and promoting your justice wherever I go.
