Daily Delight Devotional – Monday, February 26, 2024

There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.

– Proverbs 19:21, NKJV

As human beings, we often devise our plans, seeking to secure our future and achieve our desires. Yet, amidst our carefully laid out plans, we may encounter unforeseen challenges and obstacles that leave us feeling disheartened and lost. However, the Word of God reminds us that while we may have many plans in our hearts, it is ultimately the Lord’s counsel that will stand.

Surrendering control to God’s plan requires humility and trust in His wisdom and sovereignty. Though we may have good intentions, God’s ways are higher and His timing is perfect. Even when circumstances seem uncertain, we can take comfort in knowing that God is working all things together for our good according to His purpose.

Yielding to God’s plan doesn’t mean giving up on our dreams or ambitions; rather, it entails aligning our will with His and trusting His guidance every step. We also avoid long-term problems that may arise from doing things our way. A little impatience can be a thorn in our flesh for many years.

Let us learn lessons from the lives of Abraham and Sarah who went about getting an heir on their own. Or rather, learn from Rebekah and Isaac whose preferential love set their sons on a warring path for many years to come. No matter how tough it looks, God’s timing is always perfect.

Insight: As we align our will with His, we position ourselves to experience His best for our lives, far beyond what we could ever accomplish on our own.

Prayer: Father, help me to surrender control to Your divine plan, trusting Your wisdom and sovereignty in every aspect of my life.
