Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
– Matthew 28:19-20, NKJV
The Great Commission given by Jesus Christ to His disciples before His ascension is not just a suggestion but a command and a mandate for every believer. And as believers, the Great Commission is not only our mandate but also our mission. We are called to be active participants in God’s redemptive plan, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others and making disciples who will in turn make more disciples.
The Great Commission encompasses evangelism, discipleship, and teaching—all essential components of fulfilling God’s mission for His Church. We are called to proclaim the gospel, lead people to faith in Christ, baptize them into the body of believers, and teach them to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
Embracing the Great Commission requires us to step out of our comfort zones, to engage with people of all backgrounds and cultures, and to be intentional in our witness and outreach efforts. It involves both local and global evangelism, recognizing that every nation and every individual needs to hear the message of salvation.
But we do not undertake this mission alone. Jesus promises to be with us always, to the end of the age. We have the assurance of His presence, His power, and His provision as we obey His command to make disciples. With His help, we can fulfill the Great Commission and see lives transformed by the gospel.
Insight: The Great Commission is the mandate of all believers in Jesus Christ; a call to action, a call to spread the message of salvation to the ends of the earth.
Prayer: Lord, grant me the boldness and wisdom to fulfil the mandate you have commissioned me. Help me to be faithful in fulfilling Your mission, knowing that You are with me every step of the way.
