And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.

Excellence in the workplace involves several key principles:
- Diligence and Hard Work: Like Joseph, as mentioned in yesterday’s devotional, we should approach our tasks with dedication and a strong work ethic, striving to do our best in all situations. Proverbs 22:29 says, “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.”
- Integrity: Maintaining honesty and ethical behaviour is crucial. Our actions should reflect our faith, even when no one is watching. Integrity builds trust and respect with colleagues and superiors.
- Positive Attitude: A positive attitude can set us apart in our workplace and business. Joseph’s resilience and positive outlook, even in prison, earned him favour and respect.
- Commitment to Excellence: Aim for high standards in all you do. Excellence honours God and demonstrates our commitment to serving Him through our work. Don’t do your work through the lens of other people. Commit to doing the best whatever the cost.
The Apostle Paul reminds us that we are to work heartily as if working for the Lord and not for men. This perspective transforms our work into an act of worship and service to God, bringing purpose and meaning to our daily tasks.
By embodying these principles, we position ourselves for God’s blessings and opportunities. Our work becomes a testimony to others of God’s faithfulness and His life-changing power.
Insight: As our focus is on God, committing to excellence in our work makes us better and brings a far better reward than our remuneration.
Prayer: Lord, help me to demonstrate excellence and integrity in all my work. May my efforts reflect my faith and bring glory to Your name.
