And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
– Romans 12:2, NKJV
There is one thing that its power cannot be denied – the Word of God. The Word transforms and it has a transformative power unlike anything else in our lives. By giving ourselves to the Word of God, we experience mind renewal, it changes our hearts, and shapes our actions to align with God’s will.
One of the first things the Word of God does is to shift our thinking – our mindset – away from world views to divine perspectives. The more we meditate on God’s Word, we discover that our thoughts become reoriented toward His purposes and principles. This renewal helps us see life through God’s eyes, allowing us to make decisions that honour Him.
Another way by which the Word transforms is in our hearts. The Word of God has the power to penetrate deep into our hearts, revealing our true motives and desires. Our heart is the seat of all thoughts good and evil. But the Word of God is sharp and effective that it can pierce and discern the intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). If we truly want God to cleanse and purify our hearts, we need to engage the Word of God so that our lives can be shaped and aligned with His holiness and love.
The result of total change is in requisite action. When the Word transforms, we become doers of the Word. It becomes more innate to apply the principles in the Word of God after we allow God’s word to change us. Our behaviour, our choices and interactions make us become living testimonies of God’s grace. As we step out this week, allow God’s word to take center stage in your life and see the results.
Insight: Allowing God’s word to work through us brings out the change God wants.
Prayer: Father, as I immerse myself in Your Word, let it transform my mind and heart in Jesus’ name.
