However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
John 16:13, NKJV
The Holy Spirit is not a force. He may be invisible to the eye but he has every trait a person has. He has feelings. He desires a relationship. He has a voice. He speaks. He communicates God’s will to us which Jesus calls, “all truth”. It is an incredible privilege to have the Holy Spirit dwell within us. If we must grow and fulfil God’s purposes, we need the voice of the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Jesus Christ said the Holy Spirit won’t speak of His own authority. Most times, the Spirit of God regurgitates God’s Word back to us. The more you give yourself to the Holy Spirit and study the scriptures, He will shine the light of truth and clarity as you read. This gets you acquainted with the voice of the Holy Spirit. He is an inner witness that affirms and prompts you to do what God wants.
This is why as believers we must spend time in worship and prayer. This practice helps us to become more aware of the voice of the Holy Spirit. He speaks to you through circumstances. He also uses the godly counsel of other believers to affirm God’s word to you. He orchestrates events and lets you know what to do per time. Only those who are sensitive and listen can catch on and fulfil God’s ordained steps, leading to a fulfilling and successful life.
Insight: Recognizing and obeying the Holy Spirit’s promptings leads to a deeper relationship with God a
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to recognize Your voice and to respond with obedience.
