Fellowship with the Holy Spirit

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.

– John 14:16, NKJV

One of the mistakes a lot of Christians make is that they see the Holy Spirit as a force, as an influence. The Holy Spirit is not a force or an influence. The Holy Spirit is a person. And as a person, we can form a fellowship with Him – a deep, intimate relationship. A Christian who has fellowship with the Holy Spirit can live a victorious Christian life.

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, who desires to walk closely with us. According to Jesus’ promise, He guides us into all truth, helps us in our weaknesses, and intercedes for us. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit means engaging with Him daily, listening to His voice, and allowing Him to lead every aspect of our lives.

This kind of relationship requires intentionality. You need to set aside time each day to commune with Him through prayer, worship, and meditation on the Word. Speak to Him as you would with a close friend, sharing your thoughts, concerns, and joys.

When you talk to a person, they respond. You must not miss listening to the Holy Spirit’s response. You must be sensitive in your fellowship with him as He prompts you in response to God’s will. He may speak to you through a still, small voice, through Scripture, or circumstances. When this happens, be ready to obey His instructions because He knows what is best for you.

Conclusively, the more you fellowship with the Holy Spirit, the more you will see the fruit of the Spirit manifest in your life — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit brings transformation and empowers your walk with God, enabling you to fulfill your divine purpose.

Insight: When we develop a close and personal relationship with the Holy Spirit, we initiate the foundation for a vibrant spiritual life.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, teach me to listen to Your voice, to follow Your leading, and to walk closely with You each day in Jesus’ name, Amen.
