But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
– John 14:26-27, NKJV
Another important role of the Holy Spirit is being our comforter—the Comforter. You may ask: Why do I need to be comforted when I am not grieved? The Comforter is the one who stays, the one who helps. We live in a troubled and uncertain world. We need a helper who stays—someone we can be certain will be with us in every situation, irrespective of the disruptions around us.
What do you need most amid disruptions? Peace.
The Holy Spirit, as our Comforter, is ever-present to provide solace and strength. He brings a supernatural peace that calms our hearts and minds, even when we are surrounded by turmoil. This peace is not dependent on external conditions but is rooted in the assurance of God’s presence and His promises.
When we face trials, the Holy Spirit reminds us of the words of Jesus, reassuring us that we are not alone. He teaches us to rely on God’s unfailing love and to trust in His perfect plan, no matter what we are going through. This divine peace guards our hearts against fear and anxiety, allowing us to rest in God’s care.
The peace that comes from the Holy Spirit is unique. It is a gift from Jesus, one that the world cannot offer or take away. It is a peace that settles deep within our souls, giving us the confidence to face whatever challenges come our way. This peace is a powerful testimony to the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, setting us apart as people who trust in God’s sovereignty. His peace not only sustains us but also empowers us to comfort others in their times of need.
Insight: The Holy Spirit helps us to remain calm and confident in God’s love, even in the most challenging times.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, teach me to trust in You fully and to rest in the peace that only You can provide.
