Grow Up, Son – #DailyDelightDevotional

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all.

– Galatians 4:1

This verse shows us that even if someone is the rightful owner of something, they cannot enjoy it until they grow up. A child may be the heir of a great inheritance, but until he matures, he will be treated like a servant. Spiritually, it means we can be saved and loved by God, but we will not step into the fullness of our calling if we remain immature.

Many people stay in spiritual childhood because they refuse to grow. They still want to be told what to do all the time. They avoid responsibility and prefer comfort. But God expects us to move from baby steps to bold steps. He wants us to understand His will and walk in it like sons, not servants.

Growing up means learning how to take spiritual responsibility. It means praying even when you don’t feel like it, obeying God when it’s hard, and serving others faithfully. When we grow, God can trust us with more. We start to walk in authority and receive the blessings that come with maturity.

Insight: God loves all His children, but He only trusts mature sons with true spiritual responsibility.

Prayer: Lord, help me to grow into maturity. Take away childish ways and give me a heart that is ready for responsibility. Help me to walk like a true son of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
