“Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, and attend to your herds.”
Proverbs 27:23–24 —
One of the clearest signs of financial maturity is knowing exactly where your money comes from and where it goes. Many people desire financial freedom, yet they have no system for tracking their income or expenses. As a result, money slips through their hands unnoticed, and they are left wondering why they never seem to make progress.
Solomon encouraged God’s people to know the condition of their flocks because, in his day, livestock represented wealth. The principle remains the same today. God expects us to pay attention to the resources He has entrusted to us. Financial awareness is not an act of fear; it is an act of faithful stewardship.
Every believer should develop a simple system for managing finances. Know your income. Record your expenses. Review your savings. Monitor your debts. Set financial goals. Evaluate your progress regularly. These habits bring order and help you identify areas where adjustments are needed.
God is a God of order. He does not work through confusion or disorder. When your finances become organised, your decisions become wiser, your stress begins to decrease, and you position yourself to hear God’s direction more clearly.
Today, take time to organise your finances. Build a system that gives every naira and every dollar a purpose. Remember that money is a servant. It should never become your master.
Insight: Financial order creates room for God’s wisdom to operate in your life.
Prayer: Father, help me become diligent in managing every resource You have entrusted to me. Give me discipline to build healthy financial systems that honour You.
