But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
– Matthew 6:33, NKJV
Jesus’ instruction is very explicit – align first with God’s Kingdom. This principle applies not only to our spiritual lives but also to the way we invest our time, talents, and resources.
As believers, we are called to align our investments with God’s purposes, placing His kingdom agenda at the forefront of our priorities. Instead of chasing after worldly success or material wealth, we are to seek first the advancement of God’s kingdom on earth.
This means investing our time in prayer and seeking God’s guidance and direction for our lives. It means using our talents and abilities to serve others and spread the gospel of the Kingdom, leveraging our skills for the glory of God. It means stewarding our resources wisely and supporting ministries and initiatives that align with God’s kingdom.
When we align our investments with God’s purposes, we can trust that He will provide for all our needs according to His riches in glory. Just as Jesus promised, “all these things shall be added to you” when we prioritize seeking His kingdom first. The prayer of Philippians 4:19 which we are quick to quote and claim nowadays stemmed from the Philippians devoting their resources to Kingdom work. For us to see such results, we must emulate their faith, actions and obedience.
Insight: To align with God’s Kingdom, we must prioritize His agenda above our desires and ambitions, trusting His provision and guidance while faithfully obeying with faith.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the wisdom to steward my time, talents, and resources for Your glory, trusting in Your provision and blessing in Jesus’ name. Amen.
