An Eternal Perspective – #DailyDelightDevotional

Daily Delight Devotional – Saturday, March 16, 2024

While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

– 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NKJV)

In a world filled with temporal challenges and rapid technological evolution, it’s easy to become consumed by the concerns of this present age. However, as believers, we are called to maintain an eternal perspective, anchoring our hope in the promise of Christ’s return and the fulfilment of God’s kingdom.

While the advancements of technology may dazzle us with their innovation and progress, they pale in comparison to the promise of a new home in heaven as Jesus promised. We are called to walk circumspectly as we consider our time in the world. (Ephesians 5:15-17)

As we navigate the complexities of this modern age, let us fix our eyes not on the fleeting distractions of this world, but on the eternal promises of God. The word of God assures us in Revelation 21:4 (NKJV): “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Maintaining an eternal perspective enables us to endure temporary trials with unwavering faith and hope. It reminds us that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us (Romans 8:18). As we await the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us live with purpose, passion, and perseverance, knowing that our labour in the Lord is not in vain.

Insight: Maintaining an eternal perspective enables believers to endure temporary trials with unwavering faith and hope.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and the promise of Your eternal kingdom. Strengthen my faith, deepen my hope, and fill me with Your peace as I await the glorious return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
