Avoid Anger – #DailyDelightDevotional

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.

Ephesians 4:26

The truth is that anger gets closer to its border with sin as it progresses. The reason you must avoid anger is that when your anger results in quick-tempered behaviour, your tolerance level gradually becomes zero, and it is increasingly difficult to take anything from anybody. Anger leads you to hurt people. If you let the spirit of vengeance take hold of you so much that you will do anything to avenge yourself, you are toying with sin.

Anyhow you look at it, anger when allowed to run its full course retards. It inhibits the one carrying it. It is a cloud; it only presents a shadow of yourself. It can make a journey of forty days last forty years. This is because a quick-tempered man will always act foolishly. (Proverbs 14:17)

An angry man will always make decisions that are harmful, wasteful, and embarrassing both to him and others. Anger can destroy your destiny. Moses was instructed by God to speak to the rock that produced water for the children of Israel to drink when they were in the wilderness but because he was angry, he hit the rock twice, and that displeased the Lord. Moses did not get to the Promised Land as a result of what he did in a spate of anger (Numbers 20:8-11).

Insight: Anger can indeed be a monster and a terrible slave master, but you can free yourself from its hold today.

Prayer: Father, I loose and free myself from any form of anger in the name of Jesus.
