Daily Delight Devotional – Sunday, September 29, 2024

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

– John 10:27, NKJV

If you want to live a life led by God, you need to be spiritual. When your heart and spirit is attuned to God’s voice, you don’t lack divine direction. Jesus said, my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me.

There are many ways that God speaks to us. We hear Him through His Word. He speaks through us through the Holy Spirit within is and He uses other people – believers – to speak to us. It is a mistake to think that God uses unbelievers to speak to His children except for someone who is spiritually dull. Such person is no longer Jesus’ sheep because His sheep know His voice.

We need to be spiritually sensitive. This comes from living in obedience to His word. It also comes when we spend good time in prayer and in meditation of the Scripture. We need to quiet down the distractions and the noise of the world and focus on God if we must be spiritual. The more we grow in our relationship with God, the more we hear Him clearly.

Insight: When God speaks, we are called to respond and follow His lead.

Prayer: Lord, help me to cultivate a heart that is sensitive to Your Spirit.
