Daily Delight Devotional – Tuesday, September 26 2023

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

– Luke 12:15, KJV

Greed is an uncontrollable intense and selfish desire to acquire something. Greed is one of the most effective weapons in the devil’s arsenal. Greed usually takes the form of a desire for more and more money since it is with money that we try to satisfy our desire for things.

The Bible recognized this as a pitfall and states, “The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil” – 1 Timothy 6:10, NIV

In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus refers to this snare as “the deceitfulness of wealth and the desire for other things” (Mark 4:19). The devil manipulates and convinces about these things that the end justifies the means. Some people because of greed buy what they don’t need and borrowing becomes a regular occurrence with no thought plan of paying it back. Don’t be greedy but believe God to bless you with the covenant of His wealth.

Insight: Don’t manoeuvre yourself into horrible desires.

Prayer: Father, deliver me from the spirit of greediness in Jesus’ name.
