Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. –
Matthew 11:28, KJV
“Come” is one of the most basic words in any language. Jesus had said to us “Come unto me”. This is a clear invitation to Jesus meaning that JESUS is approachable. It is difficult to see the governor without an appointment but you don’t need a special appointment to talk with Jesus.
You have to come to Jesus because of who Jesus is. The Bible says, “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” – 1 Timothy 2:5. If God can do all things, he can lift your burden. What kind of burden are you carrying? Don’t carry the burden of guilt. Jesus calls you to deliver you from guilt.
However, unforgiveness is a terrible weight to carry around. Jesus wants to help you get rid of that weight. Many people are paralyzed with fear but Jesus is able to set you free from it when you come to Him. The burden is made light by the joy of walking with God.
Insight: Sinners should bring their burden of sin to the Lord. Christians should bring their burdens to the Lord because He cares for them.
Prayer: Father, remove every weary burden out of my life now in the name of Jesus.
