Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
1 Samuel 15:3, 9 (KJV)
King Saul, commanded to utterly destroy the Amalekites, returned with King Agag alive and a great number of spoils of war. Saul’s disobedience, sparing the best of the sheep and oxen, incurred the wrath of God. Samuel conveyed God’s message: “Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” Rebellion, stubbornness, and self-will in any life are certain to cause danger. Surrender your will, repent of rebellion, self-will, and disobedience.
Insight: Self-will contributes to hindering miracles, signs, and wonders.
Prayer: Father, deliver me from any form of disobedience in the name of Jesus.
