Daily Delight Devotional – Sunday, February 11, 2024

But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

– Matthew 5:44-45, NLT

Radical love challenges us to go beyond our comfort zones and extend kindness, compassion, and grace to those around us, even to our enemies. It involves stepping out of the familiar and embracing discomfort for the sake of making a difference in the world.

Jesus called us to be the light of the world. As the light, we cannot be selective with where we shine. Our capacity to show who we are includes embracing a love that transcends boundaries, prejudices, and personal preferences. It is love that reaches out to the marginalized, uplifts the downtrodden, and brings hope to the hopeless.

Radical love requires courage, faith, and a willingness to be vulnerable. It is about taking risks, standing up for justice, and advocating for the marginalized, reflecting God’s exponential love in tangible ways. Be like Stephen, who irrespective of the judgment being meted out to him could pray for the salvation of those who persecute him.

Insight: Radical love challenges us to go beyond our comfort zones and extend kindness, compassion, and grace to all.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, empower me to embrace radical love and make a difference in the world.
