A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; the simple pass on and are punished.

– Proverbs 27:12, NKJV

God calls us to steward our bodies well by prioritising our health and well-being. You can enjoy a long life and fulfil destiny when you keep your body which houses your soul and spirit. Your spirit doesn’t have a function in the physical world. This is why taking care of your body is important.

Moses was a powerful prophet of his time, however, he put so much strain on his body by sitting over matters from morning till evening. This continued until Jethro his father-in-law visited him and advised him to manage his strength or else he would die early. Read Exodus 18:17-23 for more insight.

One crucial aspect of maintaining one’s health is through preventive care and regular health screenings. Don’t overlook healthy habits such as healthy eating, regular exercise, and adequate rest. I can’t emphasize that enough this week. These alone can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses and enhance our overall well-being. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.”

Preventive care by taking regular health screenings plays a vital role in detecting and addressing potential health issues early. We are called as God’s own to be diligent. This cuts across all areas of our life including our health and seeking appropriate medical care when needed.

Lastly, let us draw inspiration from Apostle Paul’s advice to Timothy. Paul encouraged Timothy to take care of his health, reminding him that physical exercise has some value (1 Timothy 4:8).

Insight: Enjoy a long life and fulfil God’s purposes for your life by prioritizing preventive care.

Prayer: Lord, help me to steward my body well, by honouring You with my health and well-being so that I may enjoy long life and vitality to serve You faithfully. Amen.
