For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God
– Ephesians 2:8, KJV
The essence of the Christian life is faith. We are saved in Christ’s atonement through God’s amazing grace. We are justified by faith and have access to God by faith. Jesus often measured His disciples’ faith when he asked them, “Where is your faith?“(Luke 8:25).
Faith is one of the primary criteria by which God evaluates your spiritual life and your ministry. The Bible speaks of little faith, no faith, dead faith, weak faith, sincere faith, strong faith, growing faith, most holy faith and increasing faith. People can be full of faith just as they can be full of the Spirit. Faith is comparatively unseen except as it is evident in your prayer, your attitude and your actions.
Evaluate your life with your undisturbed peace of heart in the midst of the storm, your confident trust when you cannot see a path through your problems. Measure your faith by your trusting assurance that your Father is too good to forget you, too wise to make a mistake, too loving to let you be ultimately hurt or be the loser and too mighty to ever be defeated.
Measure your faith by not being overcome by the circumstances around you, not being discouraged by the forces against you and not being conformed to the world around you. Measure your life through faith by the outflowing love, joy, peace, goodness and every form of spiritual blessing. Evaluate your faith by your assurance that Jesus is with you.
When others misunderstand or oppose you, when you need to make a sudden decision, when financial need arises, whatever the circumstances, build up your faith and rejoice that Jesus is with you!
Insight: The more you believe, the more the atmosphere around you will change. Evaluate your faith by your willingness to step out on the promises of God like Abraham did.
Prayer: Father, engrace me with the power of faith to experience the wonders of faith in Jesus’ name.
