Exercising Your Authority

And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

– Luke 10:17, KJV

You don’t have to struggle for years in your Christian walk before you reach the stature required to defeat Satan. The seventy-two disciples returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”

When you are saved at the time you surrendered your life to Christ, you are moved from mankind into the Church, the bride of Christ and your name is recorded in the Book of Life. They are written in Heaven. You must understand that you have power over the satanic kingdom when you are born again. You need only learn how to use that authority appropriately. But the power over other areas of your life comes only with growth and maturity. You must journey through the process of sanctification to achieve the status worthy of exercising your authority in all aspects of your life with Christ.

Even demons, principalities and powers and Satan himself all recognize this authority. So this type of authority does not need to be “earned”, but it is inherent in every born-again Christian from the point of surrender to Christ. It is this authority that conquers Satan. You possess the full authority to command Satan and his demonic hosts to lose their hands from you, your family, your Church – your brothers and sisters in Christ, your health, your finances etc. and he must obey (Psalm 18:44-45)

Insight: As long as you walk in obedience, you exercise authority over all Satan’s power.

Prayer: Father, I move into power and authority to rule and reign amid my enemies in the name of Jesus.
