He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
– Psalms 40:2
A pit is any situation that makes you feel hopeless and helpless. It’s where there is no one around to help, and all you see is stagnation, broken-heartedness, dejection, rejection, depression, distress, and misery. A pit is a place of sorrow and sadness. Pits were used as prisons during Biblical times and were known as dungeons, symbolizing various forms of bondage. It is a terrible form of captivity.
Joseph, destined for greatness, faced envy from his brothers who recognized God’s hand upon his life. They cast him into a waterless pit:
And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
– Genesis 37:24
A man in a pit feels isolated, unaware of what’s happening around and above him. He lacks access to the good things above, trapped below ground level. A man in a waterless pit has nothing to live for, no access, and no joy.
God will lift you from everything hindering the life He has planned for you this year. He will lift you from anything obstructing His purpose from manifesting in your life. Many believers, destined to be eagles, find themselves in pits even vultures would avoid. When you enter the pit of life, only God (the blood of Jesus) can deliver you. The blood of Jesus, shed for you, will lift you from every waterless pit in the name of Jesus.
You are delivered because of the covenant Jesus made on the cross through the shedding of His blood. May the Lord shatter all those hoping to see you in a pit this coming year. While they formulate strategies, God will lift you from their trap in the name of Jesus. Refuse to dwell in the pit of frustration, depression, hopelessness, and worry any longer. Arise and take your place in destiny.
