Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost
– Matthew 28:19, KJV
The last mandate Jesus gave to His disciples before He ascended to His Father in heaven was: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19-20 NIV)
It takes teaching, guiding, encouraging, mentoring and demonstrating a daily walk with Jesus to make disciples. All believers should be trained to do the work of the ministry. When you win souls, you should strive to impart knowledge that contributes to developing Christian maturity in them to making them true disciples. You should become very good at producing converts and reasonably good at imparting knowledge and be very good at making disciples.
You must be led by the Holy Spirit in establishing relationships with your converts. A good candidate for discipleship is a believer who shows a serious desire to follow Jesus. He or she should want to learn and be teachable and open to correction.
A true disciple must be willing to make a commitment of time to discipleship training and mentoring relationships. Their faithfulness to the word of God and the church by going out to witness Jesus Christ should be evident.
Insight: When you make disciples and when you have taught your disciples everything you know that he or she has become your true partner in Christ and His church.
Prayer: Father, engrace me with wisdom and power to make disciples of all nations in the name of Jesus.
