Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know

– Jeremiah 33:3, NIV

The overwhelming reason we should pray is that our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ prayed. Jesus is our best role model in the realm of prayer. He prayed to His Father with great intensity and frequency.

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

– Mark 6:46, NIV

Jesus prayed for himself and then for His disciples; and finally, for all believers yet to come through the ages which include you and me.

Jesus commanded us to pray because that is the way God answers us. Your prayers please God. That is another very powerful reason to pray unceasingly. When you begin to realize how meaningful your prayers are and how they are presented to God in the heavens, it will fire you up to take prayer seriously and intentionally.

The Bible says, “The prayer of the righteous man is powerful and effective” (James 5:16 NIV). You should understand that your prayers move the unmovable and shake the unshakable and If you don’t pray, you will miss the blessing.

Don’t let sin disconnect you from prayer. Samuel said concerning Israel, “As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you.” (1 Samuel 12:23 NIV) Samuel recognized his responsibility to pray and that he would be in sin if he did not pray as the Lord had directed him. Start to pray on those burdens God wants you to pray and your testimony shall be multiplied.

Insight: You can receive inspiration and a burden from the Holy Spirit to pray for family, mission, church and the nations.

Prayer: Father, surprise me miraculously in all my prayers in the name of Jesus.
