His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

– Matthew 25:21, NKJV

Stewardship, according to God’s word, is the responsible management of the resources He has entrusted to us. It is one of the foundational principles for experiencing exponential growth in our lives. Understanding and practicing biblical stewardship involves several key aspects:

  1. Acknowledging God’s Ownership: Recognize that everything you have belongs to God. Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.” We are merely stewards of His resources.
  2. Faithfulness in Small Things: As Jesus illustrated in the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), being faithful in managing small resources can lead to greater opportunities and blessings. God honours those who are diligent and responsible with what they have been given.
  3. Wise Management: Biblical stewardship requires wisdom and discernment in how we use our resources. This includes budgeting, saving, investing, and giving. Proverbs 21:20 advises, “There is desirable treasure, and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man squanders it.”
  4. Generosity: Part of stewardship is being generous and willing to share. Proverbs 11:25 says, “The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.” Generosity reflects God’s heart and leads to blessings.
  5. Accountability: We will give an account to God for how we manage His resources. The Apostle Paul in Romans 14:12 reminds us, “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” This accountability motivates us to be diligent and faithful stewards.
  6. Eternal Perspective: Stewardship involves investing in eternal treasures rather than just earthly wealth. In Matthew 6:20-21, Jesus encourages us to lay up treasures in heaven, where they will last forever.

More insight will be shared in the coming days.

Insight: Faithful stewardship of God’s resources leads to greater blessings and opportunities.

Prayer: Father, help me to be a faithful steward of the resources You have entrusted to me.
