Daily Delight Devotional – Friday, September 15 2023

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him

– Ephesians 1:17

To make life’s decisions and to relate to other people, you need wisdom. Every Christian has longed for more wisdom. You and I face many situations in life in which we urgently need wisdom. You need great wisdom in human relationships.

James 3:13-18 points out two kinds of wisdom. One is earthly and unspiritual, the other is the wisdom from above, supplied by the Holy Spirit. Godly wisdom is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, full of good fruit, impartial, sincere and humble.

Your sanctified common sense is a form of wisdom from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives wisdom which enables you to observe life, nature, events and the lives of others in order to draw observations and deductions from what you see. Even your understanding of Scripture is a form of Spirit-given wisdom to guide us daily in wise choices. And this wisdom is available through constant prayer.

Insight: The Holy Spirit’s wisdom was given to Jesus and is given to us. The scripture speaks of treasures of wisdom available in Christ. (Read Colossians 2:3)

Prayer: Father, endue me daily with the Spirit of wisdom from above in the name of Jesus.
