Daily Delight Devotional – Saturday, September 16 2023

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

– Matthew 6:13

The Holy Spirit may restrain you to keep you out of temptation and can also restrain you to keep you out of danger. The Holy Spirit not only delights in giving you inner suggestions but also shows you what not to do, say or even pray.

He restrained Paul in his prayer (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). If you train yourself to listen and remain sensitive to the Spirit, you will find His restraining very real, blessed and frequent. The restraints of the Spirit are as important as the suggestions and urgings of the Spirit. The Spirit restrains Satan, the demons, sinful mankind and even at times children of God. When the Holy Spirit restrained Paul from going to Asia, he could not go to Ephesus. Later, on Paul’s third missionary journey, God used him mightily in Ephesus for three years. It is never God’s will for you to take a step that would bring disgrace.

Insight: Nothing in life can be more practical and down to earth than the guidance and the restraint of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit delights to help with your planning and daily decisions.

Prayer: Father Lord, stop me from yielding to temptation or anything that will affect my relationships with you Lord in the name of Jesus.
