Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NKJV
As believers, we are called to honour God in every aspect of our lives, including the way we care for our bodies as they are precious gifts from God, entrusted to us for stewardship, and it is our responsibility to care for them well.
Just as the Israelites revered the temple as a dwelling place for God’s presence, we are called to treat our bodies with reverence and respect, recognizing that they house the Spirit of God within us. We do this by maintaining good health and wellness demonstrating our gratitude for His indwelling presence.
Stewarding our bodies well involves adopting healthy habits that promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This includes eating nutritious and not junk foods. A lot of people in the name of modern-day packaging prefer fast foods loaded with preservatives over fresh or well-made homemade food.
When our bodies are healthy and strong, we are better equipped to serve God and fulfil His purposes for our lives. Conversely, neglecting our health can hinder our ability to effectively serve and glorify God.
As we strive to honour God with our bodies, let us. By stewarding our health wisely and treating our bodies with care and respect, we demonstrate our love for God and our desire to glorify Him in all that we do.
Insight: Our physical well-being is a reflection of our commitment to God, therefore, honour God with your body.
Prayer: Lord, help me to honour You with my body and let my life be a testimony to Your goodness and faithfulness in Jesus’ name. Amen.
