He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.
– Proverbs 10:9, NKJV
Starting today and throughout this week, our devotional series will focus on core truths about Christian character. The first discussion is on “Integrity in all things”. Our character defines us. And as a Christian, it tells the world who we are. Without these virtues, we cannot claim to be true followers of Jesus Christ. And this is why our first focus is living a life of integrity.
Living a life of integrity means being honest and having strong moral principles in every aspect of our lives. While being a Christian is more than living a morally upright life, it doesn’t mean good morals are discarded. Having a life of integrity involves being consistent in our actions, decisions, and interactions, both in public and private.
Integrity is important as believers because living a life of integrity shows that we have nothing to hide or fear. It means we live transparent lives and this builds trust with everyone in our circle. A life of integrity makes us trustworthy and this starts with little things. A person who is entrusted with little can be entrusted with more. (Matthew 25:28-29)
As believers, our lives should reflect Christ. Jesus lived a life of integrity, and by following in His footsteps, we demonstrate His character to the world. Our integrity can be a powerful testimony about Jesus to those around us.
Insight: Integrity reflects the character of Jesus.
Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in integrity in all aspects of my life.
