But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

– James 1:22, NKJV

Hearing and knowing God’s Word is important, however, it is not enough. The Apostle James emphasizes the importance of putting God’s Word into action (James 1:22). To live the Word demonstrates our genuine faith in God, and transforms not only our lives but also of those around us.

To live the Word of God is important because it shows that our faith is genuine and active. It’s not just a routine or something one is forced to do. It is an act of obedience to God. It displays how much we love Him and are committed to His commands. It really shows that God’s commands are not burdensome (I John 5:3).

The Word of God has the power to transform our character, attitudes, and behaviour. And as we practice what we read, we become more like Christ every day. We reflect His love, grace, and truth. Not only that, we become a testimony to others. Our actions now have the capacity to inspire, encourage, and draw those around us to Christ.

To live the Word, you not only have to submit to the Word but you also have to make yourself accountable. This is why the fellowship of believers is recommended. Our lives are not lived in isolation rather being in the community of believers with the common desire of our love for God enables us to become stronger as we wade through life’s journey together. Being in a community also allows us to pray and study the Word together and become strengthened where one might be weak.

Insight: Living out God’s Word is the ultimate demonstration of our faith, transforming our lives and positively impacting those around us.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be a doer of Your Word.

Daily Bible Reading: Luke 23-24
