There is a foundation to raising godly altars in our communities – it starts with making Jesus Christ central in our homes. The foundation of your family altar must be Jesus Christ. He must be the cornerstone of your home. You must ensure that everything revolves around His lordship. Just as ALCC’s values is predicated on Jesus, your family’s values, priorities, decisions and others must be built on the foundation which is Jesus Christ.

When Joshua declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” he was making a public commitment to establish his family upon the unmovable foundation of God. In the same vein, every family is called to make Christ central in their lives — allowing His teachings, His love, and His truth to guide their relationships, interactions, decisions, and priorities. Your family altar is not just a place of prayer, but a life centered on Jesus Christ. It is a home where love, peace, and righteousness thrive.

This starts by making a personal commitment to serve the Lord wholeheartedly. Then, invite your family to join in this commitment, regularly dedicating time to worship and prayer. Just as Joshua boldly declared his choice to follow God, you too can make a decision today to ensure that Christ remains the focus of your home. As we celebrate our anniversary, let us not forget these words. This is why it is emphasized so we can key into it to improve our lives.
