The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
– Proverbs 11:18, KJV
Life is an investment. God planned it that way because the Bible calls our life on earth a time of sowing. Ultimately, only two kinds of sowing are open to us; we can sow righteousness and if we do we will reap a “sure reward”. Or we can sow sin (Proverbs 22:8) and we will reap trouble, death and everlasting destruction and we will be eternally “shut out from the presence of the Lord” which means eternal judgement.
You begin to reap some of your life’s investments already in this life. You can invest kindness, helpfulness and good deeds and often begin now to receive rewards of a good name, respect and appreciation. To fail to invest, according to God’s will, is to be a fool in eternity. We do not all have the same length of life or the same abilities, possessions, or opportunities. The Bible teaches that we will reap what we sow and according to the extent of our sowing.
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows…Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
– Galatians 6:7,9
Remember this:
Whoever sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously
– 2 Corinthians 9:6, NIV
Measure your life by your investment in love. How much love do you invest in the church? Do you truly rejoice in every new person coming to Christ? How much time are you investing each day in praying for the unsaved?
Insight: Measure your life not by man’s measurement but by God’s measurement. Every day you can invest more and more for eternity.
Prayer: Father, help me to invest my life for eternity daily in the name of Jesus.
