I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.

As parents or parents-in-waiting, our decisions carry profound implications for our families. Our choices mould the path our children tread; hence, seeking God’s guidance through prayer is paramount. This is why as a Christian parent, you need to pray through your decisions.

Begin with humility, acknowledging your need for divine wisdom. Remember, except the Lord builds the house or watches over the city, any effort at building is in futility. Be humble to the point where your need for God outweighs your knowledge.

Aligning your thoughts with God’s Word by allowing the Scriptures to be your guide. Depend on the Holy Spirit to accomplish His purpose in you as He was promised as a teacher. Let the truth of God’s word through His Spirit be the compass directing your choices.

A parent is a steward of the child God has given to him/her. What better wisdom than to ask our creator what to do?

Insight: Prayer is the compass that aligns our decisions with God’s will in the journey of parenting.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, grant me wisdom as I navigate the decisions of parenting in the upbringing of my children in Jesus’ name. Amen.
