Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
– 1 Peter 5:8, NKJV
As believers, we must stay vigilant because Satan does not want to see the homefront succeed. His goal is to bring division, distraction, and chaos. This is why we must intentionally raise godly altars that set up an atmosphere that honours God and fosters spiritual growth.
Over the course of the week, I have raised issues on the need for consistent prayer, devotion time, leading our children and making Christ central to our families. As we do this, we must invest also in protecting the spiritual atmosphere of our homes.
Be mindful of what you allow into your home — whether through entertainment, relationships or conversations. The sort of media you consume, the words spoken, and the behavior tolerated all contribute to the spiritual atmosphere of your home. Words have the power. Use it to build rather than to tear down. Speak words of life in your family. Reinforce a godly atmosphere. The Apostle Peter said we must be watchful because the enemy seeks opportunities to disrupt our homes. Equip yourself and your family with spiritual weapons — prayer and words of faith from the Word of God. When challenges arise, be quick to address them through fervent prayer and declare God’s word over your spouse and children. Remember, a family that prays together, stays together.
Insight: To protect the spiritual atmosphere of your home, you need to be vigilant and be committed to prayer and God’s Word.
Prayer: Lord, help us to guard our home against negative influences and spiritual attacks.
