The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise.

As we go through life, there will be times when we are faced with crucial decisions and challenges where our wisdom may fall short. It is during these moments that seeking godly counsel becomes paramount. Trusted mentors, friends, and spiritual leaders can offer invaluable wisdom and guidance that can shape our paths and decisions for the better. You don’t get these sorts of people in a day though. And this is another discussion on its own.

The story of Rehoboam serves as a poignant example of the consequences of ignoring godly counsel. Instead of heeding the advice of his father’s trusted advisors, Rehoboam turned to his peers for counsel, leading to the division of the kingdom and ultimately, disaster.

Godly counsel provides us with a broader perspective, helping us see beyond our limited understanding, leaning on wisdom offered and grounded in biblical principles and the Holy Spirit. By seeking wise guidance from those who are spiritually mature and experienced, we position ourselves to make decisions that honour God and lead to blessings and success.

Insight: Seeking godly counsel allows us to tap into wisdom that transcends our understanding.

Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me the humility and wisdom to seek godly counsel in all areas of my life.
